THE PUBLIC CEREMONY
- The pledge must be held in a public forum.
- The pledge ceremony must be announced in a given locale at least 30 days prior to being held. This can be modified to accommodate the organizer(s). However, the purpose of the announcement is to provide timely notice to those in a given community who may wish to take a public pledge.
- Those interested in participating in the ceremony must give the organizer timely notice of such interest.
- The organizer of any ceremony should make adequate preparations for a given ceremony taking into account the following:
- Number of participants taking the pledge
- Location of the ceremony
- Number of guests
- “The Mother” (woman administering the oath).
- The Gift (A small token of Appreciation for “The Mother”)
- The Reception
- Ushers
- Vocalist
- Speaker
- Master of Ceremony
- Individuals must be 18 or over to take the pledge.
- The pledge must be administered by a woman with child (beyond the first trimester). It is recommended that she wears traditional African attire during the ceremony. This is optional and can be modified to accommodate the organizer(s).
- The ceremony shall begin with the singing of the “Negro National Anthem”
- A guest speaker may be invited to provide words of inspiration. Invited speakers should be adherents and/or supporters of the Kiyama Doctrine.
- Those taking the pledge should be dressed in dark suits or attire. This stipulation can be modified based on individual circumstances.
- All participants taking the pledge should march in single file to their respective seats. This can be modified if necessary.
- All taking the pledge should provide the organizer of the ceremony with his name and town, city and state where he presently resides.
- The pledge should be taken collectively by those assembled.
- After performing the pledge each individual who has taken the pledge should be called up individually or their names shall be printed where all can see. This may also be modified to accommodate the organizer(s).
- A donation/gift shall be collected and provided to the person administering the oath.
- An individual shall only take the pledge once.
- A reception for participants and their guest shall be held after the ceremony.
- References of a religious (not to be confused with spiritual) nature should be avoided at all cost during the ceremony so as not to offend any participant in the ceremony.
